Creating Accessible Websites: Multidisciplinary Perspectives
When
Tuesday, October 22, 2002. 5:30 to 8:45 PM
What: An open meeting of the Chicago Web community
As a community, we create websites that serve both our clients
and the sites' audiences. (In fact, it is often our job to help educate
our clients about how to best serve their audiences.) Now, more than ever,
creating sites that are accessible to everyone is not only a good idea,
it makes smart business sense -- and it's the law. In this meeting, we'll
explore what it means for a website to be "accessible," the
factors to consider in creating a site that works for its entire desired
audience, and how to create a site that fulfills both legal and business
responsibilites.
We have many different roles in creating websites:
* experience design
* information architecture
* content strategy
* visual design
* business strategy
* content development
