Intranet Governance and Management
Tuesday, September 16, 2003
Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce
One IBM Plaza, 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Suite 2800, board room
6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Intranets are an efficient, effective channel for an organization
to provide information and tools to its employees, as well as for employees
to share their knowledge and expertise, interact with one another and
collaborate in new ways. That is the dream; the reality, however, is that
often intranets languish, underused. How do local companies keep the content
in their intranets valuable, relevant, consistent and accurate? We'll
find out from a panel of speakers from top Chicago companies, as well
as the presentation of a white paper reporting on this topic developed
by Hilary Marsh, president of Content Company.
About our speakers
Mark Gallagher
Head, Intranet Support, Corporate Communications, Bank
One
Mark manages the corporate intranet for Bank One, the fifth-largest
bank in the United States. He was the internal champion who developed
the original vision and business case for the corporate intranet at the
bank. Mark won approval for funding and managed the growth of the intranet
from a few hundred users in 1996 to a production intranet today with over
60,000 employee users. The intranet home page at Bank One gets 200,000
hits per day.
Mark manages a team in corporate communications that supports
the bank's intranet. The team works on many small and big projects that
add functionality, better content and improved usability. The most successful
project is a very advanced employee phone directory that is an essential
part of the information infrastructure of the Bank. Mark was recruited
out of Bank's bond department by the Chief Technology Officer of corporate
banking to manage the Bank's intranet and work with business units to
transition banking products to the web.
